Close the window please; you’re letting the Sin in

God had Bigger plans for you, by Faith you turned over the pain and waited with an open heart for Him to show you the way!
His flock continues to deliver His message to your open heart. Your light burned through the storm of rage and you became part of His rainbow. The light within continues to shine; its warmth gives peace and comfort. You love the life you live, because your heart opened to His word, which gave strength to live the life you love. A door was never shut; you closed a small side window meant for distraction.
You overcame what was not a test from God, but a Temptation from Sin.
To live with no regret does not mean you live mistake free, it means to learn from it and make the world better because of it.  Own up, make up and move on. ~ Carlene Altom 9-14-12

Lovin my Coat

Fashion week reminds us a change of season has come and it’s a great time to reflect on what you have accumulated not only in your wardrobe, but your wardrobe of life. Whom and what have you surrounded yourself with? Did you pick up a new cause you are passionate about, or one that seemed the “Trendy” thing-to-do and now your unsure if that’s really what you are about? Did you branch out and meet new friends or did you stick to your classics?  Are you working with questionable characters by instinct or reputation and continuing to do so despite your intuition? Have you planned out what you want to buy for this coming season?
Some of us spend time cleaning out more of what we PUT on our body in our closets then what we SURROUND our body with in our life.  Have you ever worn an outfit or suit, felt amazing doing so because it looked as if it was “made for you”?
Imagine the “Coat” of armor God has in mind for you; how you would fee and how you would thrive surrounded by people God has provided. They were your missing material in this pattern called life.  Cleaning out the negative fabrics allows you to see the pattern God has chosen for you.  In this world, His Coat of Amor is a classic to own and if you ask the designer, He will give you one for free!

Pain with a Purpose

Have you ever heard a tragedy and could relate to what that person was going through? A spouse died, you lost a job, you had a painful divorce, maybe it’s something you experienced 20 years ago, maybe it was 20 minutes ago, no matter what you could relate and because of this you are able to help this person…. Bam…You just found purpose in that pain you experienced.

Why is it when our car is not running right, we are quick to bring it to the mechanics, leave it there and wait for the call that it is fixed and ready to be picked up; yet when we have a burden in our lives and things are not running right we aren’t as fast to bring it to God and leave it there for Him to fix? We trust our car problems with the mechanic but not our life problems to God?  If we don’t leave our car, how can the mechanic fix it? If we don’t leave our problems with God, how can He fix it? We can’t just tell them the problem; we have to leave it to fix it!
The question, “Why does God allow Bad things to happen to Good people?” is one you hear or ask often when we hear of a travesty in someone’s life. I view them as “Wow, what is God going to do with that?” and sometimes an added…”Well this shall be interesting”.
God does not “allow” anything other then the opportunity to turn what is bad into something good.
When we turn things over to Christ, His promise of protecting His children can be kept; His wrath is far greater then our pain..avenges is His!  When we stop looking at the pain, or what caused the pain and start looking for the purpose God can turn it into, we start to heal.  Everyone has a story, but it’s what we allow God to do with it that makes us different. Allow Him to turn that pain into a purpose and learn to live for the that purpose~ Carlene Altom 8-24-12

It’s a Purpose not a Punishment

Things are not “going wrong” in your life, they are "going right". When it does not work out according to you, they are working out according to God.  The only thing punishing you is your attitude. Talk only about how you are getting back up, not about what got you down. Difficulties are a blessing, it’s an opportunity to spiritualty grow up. Share your lesson not just the adversity… otherwise you are just complaining!  ~Still Shining Carlene Altom 8-15-12

Core: Rock On

Core: Rock On: Rock on When you shine, it threatens others who do not want that light exposed. People are drawn to Strength, Beauty...

Rock On

Rock on
When you shine, it threatens others who do not want that light exposed. People are drawn to Strength, Beauty, Passion, Compassion, Energy and Intelligence; it intimidates others who have not found peace within. People will talk, assume the worst and yes they will lie to cover up their own insecurities. There is NO room in your life for this. The longer you allow negative behavior in your world, the longer you will wait to be happy.  The only way to change them is NOT change who you are, walk away and let God take care of it.  His wrath on those who harm His children is far greater then anything you could ever do.  Continue to be a point of light and ROCK ON!~Carlene Altom 6-5-12

A Privileged Life

A Privileged Life
Ephesians 2
8God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
I went to a book signing last week and the author, who has become a friend of mine, had several of the people who had contributed or had been written about, myself included, were asked to speak.  As each one got up and told a story of what they had been through, which is why they are passionate about what they do today, I got very emotional. When it came time for me to speak, I had no idea what to say. First I felt like a walking book of everything they were speaking of. I mean, seriously how is it even possible, that all of that could happen to one person, let alone myself? There it was, all in front of me at one time, not to mention that I was also facing more surgery, (this very afternoon as a matter of fact) and a shocker in broken trust of someone I looked up to.  My Friend Jessica Rector who wrote the book (by the way it’s called How to live your Greatest Life” spoke for me, when asked, “How is it that you got through it all?” it was a simple answer of course; even when I did not really know Him just of Him, God had always been there with me.  I look back and recognize distinct moments when I actually felt His presence and of course He was there for me then.

I use to think everyone had a story, I mean I really though that everyone had some form of abuse growing up or some type of tragedy, until I meet a women who was my age and wanted to talk with me.  She had read about my life in an article and it had not just touched her but made her ashamed of her own life. She said she had never been through anything and in fact has lived a very privileged life so how was it that I was so positive and she was a mess?

Understand Heaven is not on earth; life is about lessons and some of us are meant to teach and some, to be taught. Do not dwell on the “why” did this happen; focus on the lesson.  Let go of the thought that this is your Plan or your doing, because trust me, it is not.

I have lived a life in a constant state of humble and I have known no other life.  What some may view as times of tragedy, I view as times of triumph.  I have lived a life of Privilege and I continue to do so, but I clearly see that the world has two definitions of what that means.   Did I wake up one day and into the world of Faith, well yes I really did.  I don’t understand it all, it just is and I don’t even try. It happened and I am eternally grateful that it did. I was not born believing, nor was I brought up to believe, there was no magical thing or particular moment that “made me believe”.  It was not a mind over matter (I would try that when I would attended a church) the only thing that I did different that I had never done before, was remove the negativity that was around me. I focused on only the positive in EVERYTHING and in ALL.  Then and only then did it happen; in one moment there was doubt and then there was none.  Carlene Altom 5-9-12

Philippians 1
29For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him.
Ephesians 4
14Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. 15Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.
