Facebook of Life

I love Facebook because it’s the modern version of scrapbooking ones life. I enjoy sharing mine; what I don’t post are the bad pictures, (and yes we do have girlfriend rules, we do not post bad pictures of each other). I mean that is FB 101 right?
At times I am amazed what people will post. I am always telling my teenagers two things, one is careful what you put out there because once you do it’s out there forever; even if you delete it someone can still find it. Second be careful what you do because you never know if someone else is taking photos and captures you and they post it on theirs or Lord forbid it ends up on YouTube!
As a day comes to an end it becomes a page in our Facebook of life called memories. Each new day is a blank page and whom you spend your time with and what you spend your time doing will fill it.  Looking back will be a reflection of the life you lived and the company you kept; make it beautiful so it will be worth remembering! ~Carlene Altom 1-30-12

If you are chasing does that not mean that something is running?

I wrote something like this when I was 27 but can not find it yet it’s on my heart so I will share what I remember( let me add that I am on the Rainbow right now.

Throughout this storm of rage the devil is trying to lash out at me, I am able to see the Rainbow of a promise of a better day to come. Nothing would hurt me more then to think I would not spend eternity with God or my Children; He truly is the meaning of Love. Imagine giving up your child so the person next to you is saved. I will not bring something or someone to him and ask for His blessing, I will in fact wait with an open heart for him to give me what has already been blessed. I will teach and show others His way, this is why God has brought me, and this is why he sent his son, this is why He loves me.

A lot is missing from it but I knew it was Gods promise that what I was going through during that period was not the end of my life, it would not destroy me; I saw in my mind the rainbow, a life not let lived but promised.
When we are going through hard times, desperately we want to see the through the storm and find our rainbow.  We try to convince ourselves and others of what God wants for us; we seek our desires not His. Sometimes we need a little more rain to wash away our own longings.  You cannot bring something or someone to him and ask for his blessing, you wait with an open heart for Him to GIVE to you what has already been blessed. Do you really believe that in any relationship, be it professional or personal, that God is only going to make one side aware that it’s meant to be?  You do not chase what is given. If you are chasing does that not mean that something is running?  What is running away from you is merely heading to their destiny and you simply are not it.    ~Carlene Altom 1-29-12

Humble Pie…Food for the Soul

Humility is the stones of our foundation. To be humble genuinely understand your abilities and knowledge, be pure in your success and seek, utilize and praise the strength of others that provide the power for your weakness. Earn respect, respect earned and not demanded will provide loyalty.  Listen and welcome criticism with all your heart; to be criticized by an enemy is a to be criticized yet to be criticized by a Friend is to be loved, trust your instincts to know the difference. ~Carlene Altom 1-28-12

God or your Girlfriend?

Who are you going to believe, God or your Girlfriend? Never allow opinion to form about someone by what others say; instead allow God to show you who they are. We prove ourselves by the way we respond to life. A beacon of kindness, understanding and patience will fuel the light within so the transparency of our soul is exposed; this is your signal that all is well. ~Carlene Altom 1-27-12

New Harvest

From the light you spring forth, natural as you are, your branches tender with affection and leaves of truth exposed.  You were not born but led by knowledge of truth and good for it’s only with Faith you taste the fruit for which this new harvest brings. ~Carlene Altom 1-25-12

A Habit worth Having

A Habit worth Having

What you speak most of is what is drawn to you.   Spend your thoughts on things that draw you strength and bare habit to words that bring you closer to your goal. Allow your spirit to grow up, your Infancy is over, speak in Faith, and not hope. You will experience and others will witness change. They will draw closer and you will draw strength to live your life in Faith not Fear! ~ Carlene Altom 1-24-12
