“Only God has the right to Judge me” seems like an oxymoron

If you are capable of judging my heart, then you will know, that I am not capable of breaking yours~ Carlene Altom 4-21-12

We raise our children, helping them develop the personal skills in life that will help them succeed. One of the most important skills that stresses and worries a parent more than anything, is when your child displays poor Judgment.  “Tommy, he is such a good kid, yet he always hangs around the wrong crowd, he needs to learn to be a better judge of character” or “Someone needs to teach Susie how to pick better boys to date, can’t she see how bad he is for her?” We pray every time they walk out that door that they use Good Judgment. We reward when they do and we punish when they do not. “Johnny, you are not displaying good judgment with choices of friends, that’s why you’re always in trouble” My favorite is, ”Judge for yourself” or “You be the judge of it”.
So they start exercising this skill, we pray and try to teach them to master it; then what do they get back, “Who are you to Judge?” Really? Who are they to Judge?

What we do in life requires decisions, from what we eat, to who our friends are and it’s when we make decisions that we display good judgment, verses bad judgment, and yes people Judge us by that.

The statement “Only God has the right to Judge me” seems like an oxymoron and it seems to be used as a free pass when others disapprove of ones actions. If we are all part of Him does that mean we are only certain parts?  If we are going to use the part of Him that’s Love and Forgiveness shouldn’t we use that good Judgment and wisdom of His as well?  Did I miss a disclaimer that say’s, “He gives us His all….all BUT……..”  I think the only “But” in all of this is, BUT, remember to USE His all, otherwise you can end up looking like the But with a double T.

It not that judging someone is wrong, it’s how we judge them and how we respond to that judgment that’s the issue; it’s the Lack of utilizing His all when doing all and remembering its only He who is right, 100% of the time..Now you be the Judge of thatJ ~Carlene Altom 4-21-12
